New History Of Danelectro Guitars Wonderfully Diverse And Colorful
Being an independent soul Nathan Daniel preferred to found his own company and created a beginning of the History of Danelectro Guitars in nineteen forty-seven instead of working exclusively for other companies. Originally making amplifiers only for a distributor he branched out in the following year by adding a contract to exclusively produce guitar amplifiers for a new customer.
The solid body Silverstone guitar range was launched in nineteen fifty four under the Danelectro label. These Silverstone differed from the Danelectro in that they were dark maroon in color unlike their counterparts that had a white tweed like appearance. Both brands consisted of either a one or a two pickup covered by pick guards baked melamine. The wiring was done in a series and not parallel and when used together they created a much stronger tone.
The now standard Dano materials were introduced in nineteen fifty-six and marked numerous changes to its construction. Many of the features that had previously been hidden beneath pick-guards were now exposed. This method of construction stayed the same for most of the models throughout Danelectro's early history.
When Nathan Daniel sold his company in nineteen sixty six he opted to work for the new owners. A year after the sale a Coral range was launched. However the range was different in that the original two companies in Danelctro's stable continued to receive instruments completely manufactured in the plant in New Jersey. Whereas new clients received instruments which were made up of hollow bodies manufactured in Japan.
A big re-shuffle took place during nineteen-sixty-nine when the New Jersey plant was shut down. Many of the parts were bought up by Dan Armstrong who continued to manufacture these guitars.
Towards the end of the last century Evets Corporation started selling replicas of original Silverstone and Danelctro guitars. After initially selling well these sales slowed and production was stopped in two thousand and one. Recently the new owners made a decision to sell a limited number of these instruments each year.
Remaining true to its original concept of tone quality these newest re-release replicas of classic mid fifties instruments have all the definitive earmarks of that era. They have incorporated some of the rarest styling as first seen in the original Silverstone guitars for these authentic new models.
