Great High Quality - Acoustic Research Wireless Headphones Review

by Joseph Foster

The sound quality is nice, they handle bass without breaking a sweat, and lighter notes as well. There's silence where silence is to be expected; if there's hissing present in what you're listening to, you'll hear that as well.

Very comfortable and out on patio with great volume. The grandkids can I watch TV.

I guess with practice this can be overcome, with no much frustration. Set-up was easy; just follow the directions. Whether it is much better than the 130's is a perception thing since I can't at the same time be hearing both. If I had found an issue with the sound quality of the 130's, then the 180's would have solved it. The headphones come with rechargeable batteries, which is a great addition for people who want to try out their new toy straight out of the box. So of course the boyfriend had to walk all over our apartment complex to see how far away from the station he would still be able to hear the television. They are on the expensive side, but I'm pleased with them. I'd recommend them for anyone looking for wireless headphones in this price range.

With a bit more smarts, the headphones could be made to standby in a low power mode, then ramp up when it detected a signal from the transmitter. Maybe that's too much to ask for the price. No interference issues with my home wireless (operates on 2.4-2.8 GHz auto selecting). They have excellent bass response that will actually tickle your ears, depending on what you are listening to of course. These are open phones and provide absolutely no isolation from ambient noise. If you want sound isolation, consider the Sennheiser RS 170 closed wireless phones; also sold on Amazon.

I think RS130 is analog sound and RS180 is digital sound. Sound quality is very good and no static background noise. They worked really well, but were definitely lacking in sound quality, and had a handful of other shortcomings. I decided to spend more. I live in an apartment building, so can't watch TV or listen to music very loudly without disturbing my neighbors. I've been waiting for some time to buy some quality wireless headphones that are lossless and affordable.

After it dried in about an hour, it left those buttons with a raised "bump" that my fingers can easily find. The on/off/standby button is between the volume buttons, so it is now easy to find with my fingers also. I wanted wireless headphones with good battery life, sound quality, and comfort. I use these headphones for music, movies, and gaming. My ears also hurt after a short time due to the foam ear pads. After more research I decided to give the RS180 a try.
