Eric Rasmussen vocals/ harmonica

Eric, whose real name is Ernest Von Etriege (which means aristocratic sausage in Viennese slang), writes the lyrics for Old Bull, which we think is pretty impressive for a non-native English speaker. Born in the desert and raised in a lion's den, he has traveled the world in search of Enlightenment, only to find it in his own back yard; however, he was subsequently unable to find his car. He has refused to watch television for the past 7 years. Eric remains a mystery to those who know him, and an enigma to those who don't. He studied art in Claremont and is currently working on a master's degree in Los Angeles in an as yet unnamed field of study of his own design, tentatively titled The Utility Muffin Research Unifying Theory of Corporate Greed, which he says guides the vast majority of dung-heap art being produced these days, as well as the unnecessary suffering of people the world over. We couldn't agree more!
Eric has been under the influence for many years. He listens to a lot of Gillian Welch, John Prine, Richard Buckner, Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, and Blind Lemon Jefferson of late but has been obsessed with such diverse musical acts as Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, The Minutemen, Uncle Tupelo, The Misfits, Iggy Pop, The Pogues, Captain Beefheart, Syd Barrett, Nomeansno, Leonard Cohen, and Chokebore over the years. He was exposed to the writing of Charles Bukowski at the age of 21 which, he claims, resulted in his life being saved, although he declines to state the circumstances of this event. Strangely, he later rented the very same Los Angeles apartment where Bukowski had lived. His favorite visual artist is Jules De Ballincourt of New York City. He is also very fond of the video artworks of Tony Oursler. His favorite movie is an obscure Samurai film called "Trail of Blood," but a close second is "A Fistful of Dollars." He currently resides in the bushes behind Pat's Topanga Grill.
